The proposal to sell Elm Road Open Space

The minutes from the meeting on 4th July, where the sale of Elm Road Open Space was proposed, are now up on the Council website.

Several things to take away from this:

1. The chair recommended a public consultation
2. The meeting highlighted potential traffic issues and parking problems
3. There was a recommendation that the decision not be left to one planning officer, but instead is delegated to a number of portfolio holders. The last line of the minutes is also of importance:

“The Chair then summarised that the Committee were concerned about the site and the impact on local residents, and felt problems had not been mitigated against.”

This is very much at the heart of our concerns for the disposal of the Elm Road Open Space – the impact on local residents has not been considered at all.
